Do you think that faith speaks? To determine whether this is true, I think it is best to first define what faith is. Merriam-Webster defines faith as allegiance to duty or a person, a belief and trust in and loyalty to God, firm belief in something for which there is no proof, complete trust, something that is believed especially with strong convictions. The Bible defines faith as “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1) Faith simply means believing and trusting in something for which there may be no tangible proof with complete confidence and reliance. Two words can sum up faith—believe and trust; the opposite is doubt and unbelief.
Faith is an action word and speaks forth what someone believes. You can speak forth faith or you can speak forth doubt and unbelief. A great example of speaking faith was when God created the universe. Hebrews 11:3 says, “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” Faith is the key to understanding that God created the Heavens and the Earth.
The first chapter in Genesis shows that God spoke the world into existence. Verse 3 says God said, “Let there be light” and there was light. Verse 6 says, “Let there be a firmament (heavens, sky)” and the sky and heavens were formed. God spoke the waters, earth, stars, and animals into existence. He spoke them into existence with complete confidence even before anything was seen.
This is how we must be living our lives—speaking forth what God has already done and provided for us with confidence and strong convictions. The key to speaking forth your faith is believing what you are saying to be true. How do you know what is true? By knowing what the Bible says and what God has said to be true. Everything we need has already been spoken forth into existence, and that includes healing.
If you are believing for a healing, what has God said about it? He said that His Words are life and health to your entire body (Proverbs 4:20-22). In Exodus 15:26, God said that He is the LORD that heals and that He sent His Word (Jesus) to deliver us from destructions (Psalm 107:20). Sickness, pain, and poverty are examples of destructions. Luke 10:19 says that we have been given authority over all the power of the enemy, and all sickness and disease. When you believe and trust in God’s Word, your faith “muscles” are strengthened, and you can then act on your faith and speak forth what you truly believe. Trust and belief must be behind what you are saying. If there is any doubt or unbelief behind the words you are speaking, then the evidence will not be faith.
You must say the words with assurance, belief, and complete confidence that it is true. You must know without a shadow of a doubt that Jesus took your sickness, pain, and disability at the cross over 2,000 years ago. It isn’t a matter of saying the words and wishing them to be true. Getting the revelation knowledge that Jesus took those stripes on His back for your sickness enables you to believe and trust before you see the evidence in the natural realm.
I meet people who repeat the scripture in Isaiah 53:5, “By His stripes I am healed.” Many times, I can tell there is no faith or belief behind what they are saying. Anyone can say or repeat these words, but the power and authority come when you have a revelation from God and know that Jesus took those stripes so that you can live healed and whole. You will be able to tell when the words come alive inside of you and no one can convince you otherwise that you are healed—not even your body. It is like something inside of you explodes and you know that you know that you know you are completely healed.
Let your faith speak that “By His stripes I am healed!”
