What is an inheritance? An inheritance is something (property, money, personal items, etc.) received by an heir at the death of the previous owner. You can also inherit something genetically, such as your appearance or personality, from your ancestors or parents.
There are scriptures indicating that those who believe in Jesus will receive an inheritance. Colossians 3:24 says, “knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.” Hebrews 9:15 speaks of the promise of the eternal inheritance (…those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance).
Let’s look at what we have inherited from God, our Father. In order to know exactly what we have inherited from God; we need to know who He is. In John 14:9, Jesus said, “He who has seen Me, has seen the Father.” John 10:30 says, “I and My Father are one.”
The Bible is a detailed account of Jesus, who He is and what He has done for us. If Jesus and the Father are one, then, as we look through the scriptures, we can read and know all that we have inherited from our Father. The promises have been documented just like in a Will and Testament. Blessings, prosperity, protection, love, peace, joy, etc. Healing is also part of our inheritance. In Matthew 6:9-10 Jesus said, “Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” There is no sickness or disease in heaven, nor was there sickness or disease in the Garden of Eden. God’s perfect will for His children is health and healing, as it was from the beginning in the garden, while Jesus walked on the earth, and is right now.
Sickness was never God’s plan when He created mankind. Genesis 1:31 says, “Then God saw everything that He had made and indeed it was very good.” God said this after He had created male and female. There was no sickness or death in the beginning. Nothing God had created had sickness in it. Every human seed was in Adam and Eve. Unfortunately, when Adam and Eve sinned, it contaminated the seed that would be past down from generation to generation. That contamination brought not only sin but sickness and death into the world.
The Good News is that Jesus, the perfect Seed, was birthed into this world to take away sin, sickness, pain, depression, anxiety, fear, poverty, etc. When you accept Jesus as your Savior, you are welcomed and birthed into the family of God, becoming a joint-heir with Jesus Christ. Just as in the natural world when someone dies and passes on to you their personal possessions, Jesus died for the world and those who believe on Him receive all God has provided and promised. It is God’s Will to heal.
Throughout Jesus’ time on earth, He healed all who came to Him. In John 6:38, Jesus said, “I came to do the will of Him that sent me.” Psalm 107:20 says, “He sent His Word (Jesus) and healed them.” God’s original plan for His children was to live a full prosperous and healthy life. When sin entered, God’s plan provided a way for the world to be redeemed from sickness. Jesus was the answer and the Savior. On the cross over 2,000 years ago, Jesus uttered these last words, “it is finished.”
Take your inheritance by faith and know that sickness has already been bought and paid for—there is nothing left to do—it is finished! The will has been opened and the inheritance (God’s promises) passed on to you.
