Did you know that your healing, deliverance, prosperity, and victory are aligned with how much truth you know about the nature of God? Is God your good, good Father, or is He someone you fear and try to please by living a perfect life? Do you walk on eggshells wondering if you have done enough to receive healing and deliverance? When it comes to prosperity, do you beg and plead with God in order to pay your bills?
I believe God has been misrepresented in this world, sometimes even by religious leaders. We can sum up who God is in three words: God is good! John 10:10 says, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” This scripture makes it easy to understand that the enemy is bad, and God is good. There is a thief (enemy) that wants to steal your health, make you believe that your diagnosis is a death sentence, and destroy your life. But God has come to give abundant life to those who believe in Him.
Let’s look at two key words in this scripture: life and abundantly. Both words paint a great picture of the true nature of God. The word for life in Greek is zōē which means the absolute fullness of life, a life that is real and genuine, an active and vigorous life. The word for abundantly in Greek is perissos which means over and above, more than is necessary, exceedingly abundantly, superior. God said that He came to give us an absolute full, active, superior, far exceeding, and vigorous life that is over and above anything we could ever imagine. I’d say that is pretty awesome!
God wants to blow our minds with His riches and blessings, and what is more amazing is that He has put His power inside believers. Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” Many read this verse and expect abundance just by asking. If they don’t receive what they asked for, they blame God. It is important to read and believe the entire verse that says when we ask or think, we need to mix it with the power that is within us. God has equipped us with supernatural, Holy Ghost, raising-from-the-dead power on the inside, and that mixed with God’s ability, is exceedingly abundant! God’s power flows through us when we mix our faith with His and the authority He has given us. We limit what God can do, because of our unbelief (Psalms 78:41; Matthew 17:20; and Hebrews 4:2).
God’s nature is good and the plans that He has for each one of us are good. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” The evil we experience doesn’t come from God, but from the enemy who to steal, kill, and destroy anything good in our lives. Some may experience evil because they aren’t following God’s plans for their lives. Jonah is a good example of someone we can learn from. God told him to go to Nineveh and witness to the people, but instead he chose to run away to Tarshish. A great storm arose, and Jonah was tossed into the sea and swallowed up by a big fish, spending three days in the belly of that fish. Jonah brought this hardship on himself as he ran away from God’s plan. When he repented while in the belly of that fish, he was tossed out and onto the shores of Nineveh, where he had a second chance at fulfilling God’s Will for his life. There is safety, protection, and healing under the wings of God (Psalm 91); however, when we run from God, doing our own thing, we can open the door to the enemy. If you have run from God, tell God you are sorry and run back into His arms of safety and protection.
We aren’t promised a carefree life with no issues, but we are promised victory and an expected end. The King James Version of Jeremiah 29:11 says that God wants to give you an expected end, which means “a future and a hope.” There are so many great scriptures about victory. 1 John 5:4 says, “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” As believers, we are born of God and have victory over whatever we might be struggling with. Deuteronomy 20:4 says, “for the Lord your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.” How great is God! He is with us to fight against our enemies. Sickness is an enemy. Know that God has already fought that battle against sickness when He sent His Son to take away our sins and sickness at the cross.
Look to the Word of God to learn who He is. See how much God loves you and wants only the best for you. Live the abundant, zoe life that Jesus came to give you!
