Are you walking in divine healing? Do you know what divine healing is? I believe divine healing was provided for believers through the death of Jesus on the cross (atonement), and it is the will of God. Jesus paid for sickness while He paid for the sins of the world.
Healing is a covenant right of believers. Believers are those who have accepted Jesus as their Savior by believing He came to earth to die for their sins, was crucified, buried and rose from the grave. We can find this covenant or promise in Exodus 15:26, “I will put none of these diseases upon you, which I brought upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord that heals you.”
Sickness is a curse. Deuteronomy 28 lists blessings and cursings. Here are just a few curses named in Deuteronomy: fever, inflammation, tumors, blindness and every sickness and every plague which is not named in the scriptures. Galatians 3:13 says, “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is everyone that hangs on a tree.” This tells us that Jesus saved us from sickness, pain and sorrow when He hung on a tree (cross) over 2,000 years ago. Jesus Christ, Himself took sickness for us, so we do not have to live with any of these sicknesses mentioned in Deuteronomy or any sickness or plague yet to be named.
Satan is the author of sickness which entered the world through sin. When Adam and Eve sinned, it opened the door to sickness. In John 10:10 it says, “the thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy; I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Sickness is not good, and therefore, cannot be from God. James 1:17 says, “Every good and perfect gift comes down from above from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” A simple rule to follow is that anything good comes from God; anything bad comes from the enemy.
Jesus connected sickness with the devil. In Luke 13:16, Jesus said Satan was the one who bounded up the woman for eighteen years. Acts 10:38 says that “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil.”
Jesus healed all who came to Him. There is no account in the scriptures where Jesus didn’t heal anyone. He was the perfect representation of His Father. Fourteen times in the New Testament, the scripture says, “He healed them all.” The life and ministry of Jesus proves the will of God concerning healing.
Forgiveness of sins and healing are referenced many times together making divine healing an integral part of the gospel. One is not without the other. Psalm 103:3, “Who forgives all our iniquities (sins), who heals all our diseases.” Mark 2:5 and 9, “Son, your sins are forgiven…Arise take up your bed and walk.”
Jesus paid for our forgiveness and healing at the same time. Isaiah 53 provides a picture of Jesus as He went to the cross. This scripture says, He was wounded for our transgressions (sins)…and By His stripes, we are healed!
Divine healing is God’s will. He promised it, Jesus paid for it, and the Holy Spirit gives us the power to receive it, in Jesus’ Name!
